How to Press a DTF Print from Anderson Custom Crafts

Direct to Film (DTF) printing is one of the easiest and most effective ways to apply full-color, long-lasting designs to your garments. At Anderson Custom Crafts, we provide high-quality DTF transfers that are ready to press with minimal effort.

Here’s your step-by-step guide on how to press a DTF transfer and ensure the best results every time.

DTF Pressing Instructions

Follow these recommended steps to get a professional finish on your shirts, hoodies, and other garments:

  1. Lint Roll the Garment
Start by lint rolling your fabric to remove any dust, debris, or loose fibers that could interfere with the transfer.

  2. Pre-Press the Garment

    • Set your heat press to 320°F.

    • Press the garment for 10seconds to remove moisture and flatten the surface.

    • Let the fabric cool for a few seconds before applying the transfer.

  3. Apply the DTF Transfer

    • Position the DTF transfer film on the garment, design side up.

    • Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper.

  4. First Press – Warm Peel

    • Press at 320°F for 20 seconds with medium pressure.

    • Allow the transfer to cool just enough for a warm peel (not hot, not fully cold).

    • Gently peel off the film in one smooth motion.

  5. Final Press

    • For added durability and a softer feel, cover the design with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press again for 5–10 seconds.

⚠️ Note: Every heat press is different. Your press temperature and time may vary slightly depending on your machine and material. These are general recommendations from Anderson Custom Crafts based on best results.

Washing Instructions for DTF Garments

To make your custom apparel last as long as possible, follow these care instructions:

  • Turn garment inside out before washing

  • Machine wash cold on gentle cycle

  • Tumble dry on low or air dry
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softeners

  • Do not iron directly on the design
  • Do not dry clean

Proper garment care helps preserve the vibrancy and quality of your DTF prints for dozens of washes.
